What is the Buyer-Supplier Connection?
Sponsored by the partners of Prosperity Eastern Iowa, the Buyer-Supplier Connection aims to encourage regional companies to shift 5% of their out-of-region spending back into the region. In doing so, businesses will be connected with each other to offer purchasing opportunities within the region, increasing the growth and wealth of our regional economy. What can I shift?
Consider your product purchases as well as your service purchases. If you are a manufacturer, consider your components. And what about your consumable goods, like office and cleaning supplies, printed materials, and promotional specialties? Ask yourself, "Am I really doing business regionally?" Click here to find innovative ways to shift just 5%.Is there any cost to participate?
There is absolutely no cost to participate in the program. Our consultant will visit with you and assist in identifying ways that your company could shift a portion of your spending back into the regional economy. It's not about spending more money, it's about keeping the dollars you already spend in the region.Where do the statistics come from?
Data for this campaign was gathered by David Swenson, an Iowa State University Economist, using the economic analysis software IMPLAN, using 2004 data for the six-county Prosperity Eastern Iowa region. What if I don't have time for a visit from the consultant?
We understand that everyone is busy and that time is money. If you'd like to participate but don't have time for a visit, you can still do so via this website. You can find buyers for your products; find suppliers for your needs; post a company profile; submit, search, and reply to posted RFPs; and participate in the Connections message board.
